The Dangote Group has released a press statement to correct the claim made by NNPCL's spokesperson, Oluwafemi Soneye, that their refinery sells PMS at N898 per litre to NNPCL.
Anthony Chiejina, the Group's Chief Branding and Communications Officer, characterized the statement from the NNPCL spokesperson as both misleading and deceptive, suggesting it was intended to undermine the significant progress achieved by the Group on September 15, 2024, in tackling the energy shortages and insecurities that have plagued the economy for the past five decades.
Furthermore, Chiejina encouraged Nigerians to dismiss this harmful assertion and to await an officeal announcement concerning pricing from the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, which has been established by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and is set to commence on October 1, 2024.
He emphasized that the current stock of crude was acquired in dollars. It is also important to highlight that the products were sold to NNPCL in dollars, resulting in significant savings compared to current import costs. This initiative aims to ensure the availability of petrol in every local government area across the country, regardless of their remoteness.
He reassured Nigerians of the consistent supply of quality petroleum products, thereby addressing the persistent fuel scarcity issues in the nation.
