Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is facing an uncertain future at the City Ground following reports of a breakdown in his relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Despite guiding Forest to seventh place in the Premier League last season — their best finish in nearly 30 years — and securing European qualification, tensions have emerged over transfer dealings. Nuno admitted in a press conference that his once-close relationship with Marinakis has weakened, stating, “This season it is not so well … I think everybody at the club should be together but this is not the reality.”
The appointment of Edu as Forest’s global head of football, now overseeing recruitment, is believed to have reduced Nuno’s influence in transfers. Although Forest signed seven players this summer, including selling Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for £55m, the manager voiced concerns over uncertainty and delays in strengthening the squad.
Players are said to be aware of the situation, adding to the unease within the team. Nuno, however, expressed gratitude towards supporters, saying he feels their love during Forest’s first European campaign in three decades.
With rumours about his job intensifying, Forest’s upcoming clash with Crystal Palace could add further pressure to an already fragile situation.
