The NBA and FIBA are set to host the 21st Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa camp in Kigali, Rwanda, from August 23–26, 2025, marking the program’s first appearance in East Africa. The event will bring together 60 of the top high-school-age boys and girls from 21 African countries, including two NBA Academy Africa prospects.

The camp will be led by Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings, former NBA stars Kerry Kittles and Marvin Williams, alongside coaches such as Charles Lee (Hornets)Lloyd Pierce (Pacers), and Micah Nori (Timberwolves). Senior NBA executives like Luca Desta (Jazz)Patrick Engelbrecht (Raptors), and Prosper Karangwa (76ers) will serve as camp directors.

Over four days, campers will undergo drills, three-point contests, and 5-on-5 games, while also taking part in leadership and life-skills workshops. Standout players will receive awards such as the Kim Bohuny Camp MVP and the Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award. Off the court, the program will include a wheelchair basketball clinic, community health outreach with Shooting Touch, and a “Her Time to Play” workshop empowering female athletes.

Since its inception in 2003, BWB Africa has produced 14 NBA/WNBA draftees, including Joel Embiid and Pascal Siakam, and has impacted more than 4,600 players worldwide.
