Lebara Nigeria, part of the London-based Lebara Group, has launched a Number Reservation Portal to allow Nigerians to secure their preferred mobile numbers ahead of its official service rollout in Q3 2025.
The platform, built on Lebara’s 0724 prefix, lets users select numbers with personal meaning—such as birthdays or lucky digits. To reserve, applicants (aged 13 and above) must sign up with an email, verify through a one-time password, and provide their National Identification Number (NIN). After verification, available numbers are displayed for selection, with a confirmation email completing the process.
Lebara Nigeria’s COO, Mary O. Akin-Adesokan, explained:
“Our objective is to synergise personalization with cutting-edge technology, thereby empowering customers to reserve numbers that align with their digital identity.”
The initiative signals Lebara’s push into Nigeria’s telecom sector as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). At launch, it will offer nationwide coverage, SIM and eSIM options, transparent billing, and partnerships to expand public WiFi access while promoting digital inclusion.
Lebara will compete with 9mobile and Vitel Wireless, both active in Nigeria’s growing MVNO space. Despite competition, the company is betting on affordability, technology, and a customer-first model to win over subscribers.
