Marc-Andre ter Stegen is set to lose his role as Barcelona captain.
According to 3Cat, the club’s hierarchy has instructed head coach Hansi Flick to remove the armband from the German goalkeeper.
The move comes after ter Stegen allegedly refused to sign a medical document related to his injury, which was required for submission to La Liga’s commission.
Barcelona have since opened disciplinary proceedings against him, with management insisting that “after such sanctions, he can no longer be the face of the team.”
