Ter Stegen vows never to sign Barca’s medical report – sources

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has reportedly refused to sign the club’s proposed medical document, Diario Sport reports.

According to sources close to the German shot-stopper, he is strongly against endorsing the report, which La Liga requires to finalize player registrations for the upcoming season.

Barcelona has been expected to submit the report since Monday, August 4, but has been unable to do so, as attempts to contact their goalkeeper—both in person and by phone—have failed.

The issue arises from a rule mandating the team captain’s approval of the club’s financial and medical guarantees.

However, Ter Stegen is said to be “uncomfortable with the contents of the document” and has refused to accept legal responsibility for it.

This standoff reportedly heightens existing friction between Ter Stegen and the club’s leadership, with president Joan Laporta said to be particularly upset, viewing the player’s refusal as a “betrayal of trust.”
