Araujo Poised to Take Over as Barcelona Captain

Ronald Araujo is on course to be named Barcelona’s new first captain, pending Hansi Flick’s decision to relieve Marc-André ter Stegen of the role.

Ter Stegen, the current captain, remains officially in position despite reports suggesting he has already been stripped of his duties. However, ongoing friction, particularly surrounding a medical report dispute, has strained the relationship between the goalkeeper and the club.

Sources indicate Flick will make a final call within the next 24 hours on whether to appoint a new captain.

Araujo, who enjoys immense respect within the squad despite limited playing time last season, is considered the natural successor. The Uruguayan defender has previously worn the armband and is praised for his dedication, mindset, and leadership both on and off the field.
