EFCC Chairman Denies Forcing NNPCL Boss to Resign, Threatens Lawsuit

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has denied claims that he pressured NNPCL Group CEO Bayo Ojulari to resign.

Reports alleged Olukoyede and DSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi forced Ojulari to sign a resignation letter in Abuja and questioned him over links to Olatimbo Ayinde, a British-Nigerian oil businesswoman allegedly influential in the administration. Another report claimed First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu opposed the resignation at the Presidential Villa.

Olukoyede called the allegations a “betrayal and subversion of public trust.”

Through his lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, he gave the outlet 48 hours to retract the “false and fabricated” reports and issue a public apology.

The letter stated: “He, therefore, demanded that the medium acknowledge your wrongdoing, expressly admit that what you published and imputed against my client are false, apologise for it unreservedly and retract and pull down the stories from your newspaper website and social media handles.”

He warned of a defamation lawsuit if the demands are ignored.
