It occupies 174 hectares of land and has 130 rooms and 26 suites.
These are the kind of facilities we should be building in Bayelsa State to encourage the tourism and hospitality industry.
We pay heavily to go for workshops in Uyo and Calabar because we see good and serene environments, but we have refused to develop our own. The people who built IBOM Hotel and others don't have four heads but are inspired by the vision of drawing the world closer to them.
Investors will not come if we don't have what to attract them. Tourists will not come and add to our IGR if we don't have the facilities to drive that sector.
No state prospers by solely depending on federal allocation. The tourism and hospitality industry has the huge potential to turn our state around if we can put the right infrastructure together and run it on a public-private partnership.
If it can work in Akwa Ibom and Calabar, then it can also work in Bayelsa.
